My Hardware

I thought I would create a little section with a list of the hardware I'm currently running Linux on.

  • Debian 6 (squeeze) - Intel Quad Core 2.4GHz, 8GB RAM, 4 x 250GB SATA, Altansic Ethernet Card, LG CD/DVD-Writer.
  • Debian 6 (squeeze) - Intel Quad Core i3 3GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Intel Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller, Realtek Ethernet Card, CD/DVD-ROM/Writer.
  • Debian 6 (squeeze) - Dell PowerEdge 840, Intel Pentium D 2.8GHz, 2GB RAM, 2 x 80GB SATA HDD (raid1), Intel Ethernet Card, CD/DVD-ROM.
  • EliveCD 2.x - AMD Sempron 2300+, 3GB RAM, 2 x 160GB HDD, ATI Radeon 9250 R925 128MB Video Card, Realtek 8139 Ethernet Card, LG CD/DVD-ROM, LG CD-Writer.
  • Ubuntu 9.04 - Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, Intel Celeron 2.2GHz, 1GB RAM, 20GB HDD, Intel 82855 64MB Video Card, Intel Ethernet Card, CD/DVD-ROM.
  • Ubuntu 10.04 - ASUS K51AE, AMD Athlon II Dual Core 2.3GHz, 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, ATI Radeon Video Card, Intel Ethernet Card, CD/DVD-ROM/Writer.

Debian 6 (squeeze) is installed on my home desktop system.  I don't tend to use this too much, so decided to go with a distro that will have a relatively longer shelf-life and not be inundated with updates each time I turn the system on.  I found that using Fedora or Ubuntu, I was receiving a lot of updates regularly.  Now, whilst I'll still get updates, they'll be fewer and far between than the distros running the latest and greatest.

Debian 6 (squeeze) is installed on my office desktop.

Debian 6 (squeeze) is installed on my Dell Server, as a Xen Server with multiple virtual servers (backup, mail, proxy, web).

EliveCD is installed on a home desktop.

Ubuntu 9.04 is installed on a laptop computer at home.

Ubuntu 10.04 is installed on my home laptop.
